Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning

In our experience we often see Boards and Management Teams tending to focus most of their efforts on the internal operations of the Club or short term operational issues.  Often little attention is paid to the issues that are beyond the direct control of management, yet these can have a dramatic effect on the Clubs future success – For example, legislative changes, increases in gaming tax, the smoking issue, and the pressures of competition, changing demographics and amalgamations.

Any planning approach must ensure all external factors that impact on the Club’s future are identified and prioritised to allow the Club to focus its resources in order of importance.

Planning in the club industry has never been as important as is currently the case, due principally to the increases in gaming taxation and smoking legislation. Clubs must base all current planning on a worst case scenario in order to place the Club in a position where it can with stand the impact of these issues on its trade.
