Local Impact Assessments & Community Impact Assessments

Local Impact Assessments & Community Impact Statements

Various gaming commissions and authorities around Australia require impact studies (called Social Impact Assessments, Local Impact Assessment or Community Impact Statements depending upon the jurisdiction) to be completed when applicants are seeking to move or increase the number of gaming machines or need to make liquor license applications.

For example in NSW, OLGR (Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing) requires an SIA to be undertaken, whilst in Queensland the Commission requires applicants to undertake a CIS. (Similar studies are currently necessary in Victoria and under consideration in the ACT).

Impact studies are complex and not only require a mix of economic, social assessment, research and financial input but require a close liaison between the preparer and the various authorities to achieve the best outcome in relation to the application.

Lawler Partners Hospitality utilise a unique methodology in preparing impact assessments which is demonstrated by the fact we have completed over 140 successful SIA’s and CIS’s for clubs and hotels in NSW and Queensland.
